Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library is a registered charity and was formed in 1987 and is a group of volunteers dedicated to promoting and supporting TBPL in the community.

In other words, the Friends are our biggest cheerleaders! Activities of the Friends include but are not limited to:

  • Running a used bookstore in the lower level of the Brodie Library
  • Volunteering at Superior Shores bingos, an important source of fundraising revenue
  • Delivering Library books every month to those who cannot get to a library branch
  • Raffles
  • Special events and book sales
  • Committees

Since inception the Friends have raised over $1 million dollars for TBPL! Their donations have been used to purchase countless books, board games and eBooks, and have contributed to capital projects like the Mary JL Black Library.

We love our volunteers! Click here to read about some of our amazing volunteers.

The Friends are always looking for volunteers to join their team. You can download the application here. Please email your completed form to friends@tbpl.ca, drop it in the book return slot at any branch or mail it to:
